Hon Jo Hersey

Minister for Education and Training

Jo Hersey was appointed a Northern Territory minister in September 2024.

 

Holding ministerial portfolios for Education and Training; Early Education and Public Service, Mrs Hersey is a strong advocate for the Territory.

 

Minister Hersey has lived in Katherine for over 30 years, where she raised her family and operated a small business for 25 years.

 

Deeply passionate about working towards a better Territory, Mrs Hersey was elected as the Member for Katherine in 2020. She has a long history of being involved in the community whether it be through school councils or sporting clubs.

 

She currently sits on a number of boards, including Step Out, which is based in Katherine and offers a range of programs to meet the needs of those who have a wide range of disabilities. She is also on the board of the Katherine Museum and National Trust NT Katherine Branch, which cares for O’Keeffe House and the Old Railway Station in Katherine.

 

Her husband Dean was born in Katherine and has grown up in the community. They have three children: James, Hannah and William.
